CoLAB Mannheim

Co-creative collaboration of European model cities for climate neutrality by 2030

Chantal Schöpp, Creative Climate Cities, 2023

The cities of Mannheim, Aachen and Münster have joined forces in the project CoLAB (Committed to Local Climate Action Building). They are working together to become climate-neutral by 2030 through integrated and innovative activities.

The shared vision of a sustainable and climate-neutral city is to be achieved by cooperation of various interest groups in urban society (city administration, politics, businesses, citizens) and mobilising them to take concrete action. Together, new ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions related to everyday human behaviour are being tested.

Creative Climate Cities is creating a 'serious game' which will foster the development of 'Local Green Deals', i.e. concrete measures with the aim of protecting the climate, nature and the environment through greenhouse gas savings. The game aims to promote cross-departmental cooperation within the city administration and to strengthen the willingness to cooperate and implement measures.

The project is funded by the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities | Horizon Europe.
